Union Station to Georgetown Waterfront Premium Transit Service Alternative Analysis Study. Initial meeting was 20 Feb. At the 2nd public meeting on Thu 11 Apr DDOT presented 3 alternative routes; two for streetcars and one for premium bus. A 3rd public meeting is set for 23 May. [Although this study does not directly affect SE Capitol Hill, the evaluations of various alternative transit options will be important information for future extensions of the DC Streetcar system.]
Barney Circle-SE Boulevard Transportation Planning Study. First public meeting of the NEPA EA review process was 21 Feb. Subsequent public meetings planned for Spring 2013 (Alternatives) and Summer 2013 (Draft EA). Final NEPA document and decision: Summer 2013. [Kirsten comment: "very ambitious schedule" especially given all the blogging on this study so far]
Pennsylvania-Potomac Avenues SE Intersection Pedestrian Safety Study. First public meeting of the NEPA EA review process was 31 Jan. Meeting #2 was held 16 May, 630pm to 830pm, Payne Elementary School, 1445 C Street SE. Four options were presented; of which #3 titled “T-Intersection” is probably the most viable. The Draft EA is scheduled for Summer 2013 with a Final NEPA document and decision to follow.
DC Streetcar Construction Updates on H Street/Benning Road Line. Most recent meeting: 26 Feb
moveDC The kick off meeting on this new DC initiative was held on Sat 9 Feb. The first Transportation Planning Advisory Committee meeting was 27 Feb. A series of public Workshops were held 20 Mar, 21 Mar, 26 Mar, and 28 Mar. There was also a 9 Apr web meeting. For more info, check out this DDOT 7 Mar press release. The 2nd Advisory Committee meeting was on Tue 9 Apr and a 3rd was held on 8 May. Upcoming is a 2nd set of public workshops: 6 June, 8 June, 11 June, and 13 June. 11th Street Bridges Project has the following Quarterly Community Meetings in 2013: Mon 11 Mar, Mon 10 Jun, Mon 9 Sep, and Mon 9 Dec. Location: Project Construction Office, 1300 block of M Street SE.
CSX Virginia Avenue Tunnel NEPA Project. We await release of the Draft EIS and subsequent public meeting.
